Registrations

If you are of Ngati Whare descent you can chose to register as a beneficiary of Te Runanga o Ngati Whare Iwi Trust. We encourage all Ngati Whare, wherever they may live (in Aotearoa or over-seas), to register.

Being a beneficiary means that you will be eligible to participate in the benefits that should flow from a Ngati Whare Treaty settlement. Registration also means you will receive by mail the Ngati Whare Panui, which will keep you up to date on iwi news.

Registrations are also useful to the Runanga as they help demonstrate to the Crown the actual number of Ngati Whare alive today, rather than the misleading count under the 2006 Census. In time, as registrations continue to grow steadily, this will enhance and strengthen Ngati Whare as an iwi.
